5th/6th class blog

It has been an extremely busy few weeks for our fifth classes. We completed our Lego Workshop, we did group projects in both History and Geography…

5th class have had some fun times reading their very own ‘Scéalta Gaeilge’ to Rang 3 and also teaching the Junior Infants how to play the freshly painted games on the school yard.

Shared reading has many benefits. It helps students work together, encourages co-operation and promotes peer assisted learning. It helps children expand their vocabulary, allows them to read fluently with expression and confidence

Science is a huge and vital part of our daily lives. Again this year the pupils of SCM entered the ESB Science Blast Competition… and guess what? We won an award!

6th class learned how to harness the power of physics and air resistance and developed different parachute designs to discover a safe way to deliver an egg to the ground.

6th classes had a whale of a time of their school tour to Ballyhass Adventure Centre. The students played on the Aquapark, they bounced, crawled, jumped and rolled their way around the high nets.

6th classes exploring their inner creative genius this week… we have so much potential!

Today the children in 6th class made a pop-up shop. They picked lettuce, herbs and daffodils from the garden and sold them to raise money for both the Irish Cancer Society and also our own school garden….

Today the children in Scoil Chlochair Mhuire all wore odd sock to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness. It is a wonderful thing to understand that we are all different yet all the same. Knowledge is power.
